6V and 24V units are not available as self-exciting (single wire hook-up).
Dynators, unlike the dynamos they are replacing are polarity sensitive.
90A version - This increase in output is yielded at higher rpm therefore 'HO' units often need 2-3 times more speed for output and cooling. They are considerably less efficient than a standard unit at low rpm.
'SD' (super-duty) Dynator (95A) gives high output at low RPM but body Ø increases to 5".
To make a super-duty (SD) unit even higher output by re-winding and uprating (170A) select the 'SD-HO' version. Operational speeds need to increase slightly.
Unless the part number is superseded with suffix -LS or -HO, then work on the basis that the Dynator has a turn on speed of 1250rpm.
Some units spin at 1:1 or less than engine speed, therefore low or no charge at idle E.G. ALVIS / BEN001 / FER001 / MGM001 / RIL.
